George Russell is now on the pole of Formula One for the first time in the season. George Russell finishes 20th overall and last in the Hungarian Grand Prix. George Russell, Mercedes’s new driver in Formula One, took his debut pole position in Hungary. George Russell, the British driver took the sole driver to win the pole in Hungary, beating Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton and his teammate Fernando Alonso, who finished with a tenth of a place. Red Bull Racing also had problems with Max Verstappen who came in P10, while Sergio Perez came in P11. Both drivers suffered an unsatisfactory qualifying session, and could only manage the positions of P10 and 11.
The British driver had to begin in the middle of the grid in order to get pole position. He was slow to start, which ended up costing him the first row. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were on their second row. Max Verstappen didn’t make it out of Q2 and starts from the back row. Sergio Perez also qualified in the top ten, but failed to make it out of qualifying.
Sebastian Vettel, his French Grand Prix teammate was found dead after a spectacular crash. The impact left bits of asphalt all over the track. The safety car was deployed to the first time of the season. After two laps the safety car was dismantled and drivers returned to racing. In the next lap, Carlos Sainz made a mistake and spun off of the track, landing on the gravel. The German driver had a second setback, and it was an emotional day.
In spite of Sebastian Vettel’s accident turn 10, the session continued with green. Sebastien Leclerc was second, while Charles Latifi snagged first. Max Verstappen was fourth fastest and Felipe Alonso was sixth. McLaren’s Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon finished in the top ten. Kevin Magnussen was the final driver to score points. Red Bull driver.
An unexpected result at the Hungarian Grand Prix – Pole location in practice and a 20th place finish in qualifying has left the F1 world thinking about why the relatively new Briton did not make further progress. During practice, it rained frequently and all drivers had to take wet tires. Nicholas Latifi was the fastest in the initial and second segments. His feats of courage were highlighted by the later Safety Car which helped Max Verstappen claim his 2021 World Championship.
Frenchman Francois Leroy is trying to get a points-scoring starting in his 3rd consecutive race weekend. This weekend will see this weekend, the FIA Formula 2 Championship heads to the Circuit Paul Ricard, where the Frenchman has a strong history. Latifi has a good knowledge of the track, having raced it three times previously and at the end of last year’s race in Hungary. The Canadian finished 20th and the last to finish in FP1 during the Canadian Grand Prix.
